Part of a series of artworks owned by the Block-Bauer family, looted by the Nazis in 1941. This portrait was the subject of a seven year legal battle to return it to the Block-Bauer family from the Galerie Belvedere, Vienna, Austria. It was finally returned in 2006. The portrait is now on display in the Neue Galerie in New York.
