Invitation card to a Caribbean Labour Congress
-
Description
-
Organisations such as the Caribbean Labour Congress were established in Britain in the mid-20th century to address specific needs and concerns of West Indian migrants. They fostered a sense of solidarity and community for people from the West Indian islands, British Guiana and British Honduras, through social events and initiatives. The Jamaican poet Louise Bennett−‘Miss Lou’ – was an important figure during this period. Her work had a lasting impact on West Indian identity and culture.
