Guyana People’s Progressive Party poster
-
Description
-
Relationships with Britain remained fraught, as demonstrated by the poster calling for the boycott of Queen Elizabeth II. The British monarch remained Guyana's head of state after independence in 1966. On 23 February 1970, Guyana's National Assembly passed a resolution to become a republic with a president as head of state.
