Independence: Yes! The Old Mess: No!

Title
Independence: Yes! The Old Mess: No!
Description
Antigua’s Liberation Movement grappled with limits on full independence imposed by economic reliance on former imperial powers. In the pamphlet it argues that Antigua's economy is sweked towards the profits of foreign businesses, undercutting the wealth and welfare of its local population. Socialist movements in the Caribbean often framed the domination of former imperial powers in the international capitalist economy as a continuation of legacies of exploitation under slavery and indentureship.
